Spring- For a true freestone river experience the Green River is hard to beat. With it’s, massive browns, rainbows, and cutthroats. The green will typically start fishing well while the river is dropping from the spring runoff and is still a bit off color. Prior to the spring runoff caddis and baetis provide early season action.
Summer- July kicks off the summer season here on the Green River. With it’s prolific gray drake hatch and golden stone hatch followed up with hopper season. It’s no wonder why our clients say the green provides some of the best dry fly fishing they’ve found anywhere. If your on the water with us come July and you should be. Expect to be fly fishing for huge fish!
Fall- Fall welcomes the start of the spawning run for the browns out of Fontenelle Reservoir. Pounding the undercut banks with streamers and large nymphs is the usual tactic for catching these big fish.
Winter- While open all year, the best fishing tends to follow the end of the runoff. We usually finish up on the green sometime in September. If you happen to be in the Jackson hole area in the winter season give us a call and we’ll be happy to book a guide trip for you on one of the other rivers or lakes in the area.
